What is Lymph?

Lymph is the fluid that circulates throughout the lymphatic system, an important part of your immune system, carrying waste and toxins away from organs and tissues.

Why is it so important that Lymph moves properly?

The lymphatic system is the filtration system of the body; collecting waste and toxins from around the body to be removed. Similar to the circulatory system, the lymphatic system is a network of vessels that move fluid around the body. Unlike the circulatory system, the lymph network does NOT have a pump. As such, the lymphatic system depends on us to propel lymph through the network and out the proper pathways of elimination.

Lymph Stagnation & Congestion can contribute to:

  • Adema - swelling, stiffness

  • Digestion Issues including heart burn, bloating, gas, constipation, urgency, IBS, IBD

  • Poor Circulation - cold hands & feet, numbness or tingling in extremities

  • Pain - fibromyalgia, stiff & sore, slow workout recovery, lagging injuries, bruising easily

  • Sports Performance - recovery, inflammation, lactic acid, injuries, muscle activation

  • Head - headaches, migraines, concussions, whiplash, brain fog, sinus pressure, allergies

  • Skin - acne, psoriasis, eczema, rashes, hives

  • Allergies - sinus infections, skin irritation,

How is Lymph moved?

Body weight exercises, weight lifting, yoga, massage, skipping rope, running, trampoline rebounding, standing on oscillating (vibrating) platforms and massages can all aid the movement of lymph.

Manual lymphatic drainage is performed in a specific order depending on if and where your lymphatic congestion is manifesting at the time of your appointment. Manual lymphatic drainage applies a specific amount of pressure, direction and speed, to stimulate and improve the bodyโ€™s natural lymph flow.

What to expect before, during and after a lymphatic assessment and treatment.

Preparing for your Appointment: Ensure you are well hydrated for 24 hours leading up to your appointment. Try not to eat a big meal 1-2 hours before your appointment. Arrive in comfortable and/or loose clothing (workout wear, stretchy or cotton clothes; ideally no jeans).

During Lymphatic Assessment & Release: You will lay on your back on a massage table while I palpate specific areas of the body to assess lymphatic system for reflexes, tenderness, congestion, and stagnation. Based on this assessment, I will perform manual lymphatic drainage that will take 15 - 45 minutes. I have my clients finish their appointment by standing on an oscillating (vibrating) platform for 5-10 minutes while we discuss the results and home maintenance. This vibrating platform systemically moves fluid around the body and helps move out stagnant lymph.

Please Note: You may experience detox symptoms as your organs and lymphatic system try to move and eliminate waste. Detoxing varies from person to person.  Remaining hydrated throughout the day and the following days is key for optimal drainage and comfort.

Warning: Lymphatic release is not advised for those who are currently constipated (less than 6 bowel movements a week) since the digestive system processes and eliminates a large portion of lymph during and after this release.  If you are currently constipated please book a free-discovery call to discuss next steps in improving digestion and improving the safety and comfort of lymph work.

Lymphatic Drainage Testimonials

This year Natasha introduced lymph drainage to me. I was one of those that sort of thought, sounds weird ๐Ÿ˜„ but having seen the difference (with and without) is eye opening. 2020 has been so challenging but our lymph sessions have helped to get me through it!  Lymph does it all, it carries fluids to help us heal, fight infection, hormonal imbalances, and helps to drain the toxins from our body really the list goes on.

I have now been running for 5 years ๐Ÿ˜ฎ I've had physical ailments but the lymph work has kept me going.  As a runner I can see where and how lymph fluid can become 'stuck' and hinder running movement and improvement.   I suffered from side stitches, shoulder, foot, and calf pain; but doing the lymph with Natasha was amazing. I felt good after and found my flexibility and performance much improved.  While I hate to be one that extols Natasha's abilities (really I'm afraid I won't get in for a last minute appointment) ๐Ÿ˜ you really should try it.  Lymph is so important regardless of your physical activities or abilities, it helps and really, that's all that matters.  It is a natural way to help your body to heal, no drugs, just teaching your body how to heal itself. ๐Ÿงโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿค” Our lockdown ends in mid-January, once that's over I'll be booking our next lymph sessions for the upcoming year...I've got a marathon to train for and need all the help I can get.  I miss you Natasha! ๐Ÿค—

Iโ€™ve known Natasha for many years. She initially started me on my path to fitness but now sheโ€™s helping me with my menopause symptoms, specifically hot flashes and insomnia. Natasha walked me through all about the lymphatic system in my body and basically got things moving around. Apparently I need more โ€œworkโ€ and look forward to exploring and learning more about my lymphatic system so that I can feel better. As per Natashaโ€™s advice, I started taking Magnesium + Taurine, B6 & Zinc to help support cardiovascular function and maintain proper heart muscle function. Also, At bedtime I drink a naturally relaxing nighttime drink to help me have a calmful sleep. I had my first good night sleep in months. I didnโ€™t wake up or have a hot flash! With results that quick, I can only Imagine whatโ€™s in store for me. I canโ€™t wait to continue my journey with Natasha. I will keep you posted as I continue my journey.
